Since 2001 I have returned to the exploration of the human body, working
with the idea of technology versus the human factor. I have been
preoccupied all my life with dichotomies: the angel and the devil, light
and darkness, culture and nature. While content is important to me,
form is essential. I feel that unless I have something to say, there is
no reason for me to paint. Most of my work is based on personal
experience, which is then distilled and transformed through the creative
process. I like to probe into the unseen, the mythological, the
mysterious. The past fascinates me, for it shapes the present and the
future.
A book on my work, PNINA GRANIRER; Portrait of an Artist, by Ted Lindberg, was published in 1998 by Ronsdale Press. A film by the same name was aired on BRAVO! on January 2005. Except formy own website, "http://www.pninagranirer.com" my work is featured on other sites such as www.culturefrancophone.ca, www.ccca.ca and many others. My work is found in numerous private collections in Canada, the US, Europe and Israel, as well as public ones such as the Glenbow Museum, Calgary, Alberta, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, the Fundacion Museo Eugenio Granell, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, the Yad Vashem Museum, Jerusalem, Israel, and many more. One of my works is included in the book 'Reasons to Love the Earth', published in the Netherlands and one of my wood engravings is in ENDGRAIN, a limited edition book about wood engravers of North America, now collector's item. My work was shown internationally in France and the US and in 2004-5 in Prague, Cagnes-sur-mer, France and Museo Fondacion Eugenio Granell in Santiago de Comopostela, Spain.
