| I always begin with a study of
the particular setting and environment of my future sculpture. Any setting,
any urban environment, any landscape are unique and with their particular
features.
Only the right awareness of the volume characteristics and features, as well as the structural links among the constituent elements of this specific microcosmos are the precondition of a satisfactory solution. Architectural style, materials used, colour scheme, natural settingm the movement of the sun over shapes and forms, and shadow movement, the movement of rivers and streams, their reflective capacity, the prevailing winds for the area, the history of the town, from its foundation to the present, the emotional setup, are the things I try to penetrate and build into my sculpture. I like to make wind-driven and water-driven sculptures, sculptures related to the movement of the sun (I have done three sun-dials), sculptures with running water. Also I like the reflection of sculptures in running water and calm waters. I like sculpture which revels the microstructure of rock outcrops. I spent half a year examining the microstructure of granite with a microscope in the course of my work on my largest sculpture made of granite, water, the terrain and concrete, making use of granite structure enlarged many times, as an element in the sculpture. I want to grasp the viewer's imagination, to build on their imagination, to lead it up to heights of unknown realms, not simply to show ready images. As to the realization of the concept, making use of the appropriate materials, all classical material employed in sculpture, such as stone, bronze, steel, concrete and wood are present in my work, which ranges in size from 5cm to 5000 sq.m. I also have a public art page. Please contact me if you are interested in my work: Telephone/Fax: 0171-794-8975
